Russell Wilson’s Baseball Statistics

Tonight, football’s version Game 7 of the World Series takes place as the Seattle Seahawks battle the New England Patriots. Quarterbacking the Patriots is Tom Brady while Texas Rangers’ minor league second baseman Russell Wilson captains the Seahawks.

By now most people know Wilson is a two-sport athlete. What I doubt most people have bothered to do is actually look up if football is just a hobby or the day job he should stick with because even in the minor leagues Wilson has not played particularly well.

If you’re short on time, it’s the latter.

In 2 seasons at the Single-A level, Wilson is a .229 hitter. He hit .230 at Low-A and .228 at High-A. He has 5 home runs in 93 games and 118 strikeouts.

The one thing Wilson appears to have done pretty well is steal bases. He swiped 15 bags for the Asheville Tourists in 61 games when he last played professionally.

Overall, though, there’s a big reason why Wilson is playing tonight instead of sitting at home watching it with people his girlfriend invited over.

Not to mention, his girlfriend would probably be someone else if he was a little bit better at baseball.
